Rammstein wants to have 145,000 visitors at Theresienwiese on New Years Eve

It will be the biggest party this year in Munich! However, KVR warns of a huge pressure on the security team.

Right now, the authorities have given their permission to have this event. The organizer Klaus Leutgeb and his team have now to submit an approval concept to the KVR. Only if that succeeds, we will party with Rammstein on December 31st.

Fingers crossed, I hope this event happens.

10 life hacks to make you feel like a local in Germany

Not Munich specific, but I thought about sharing it with you. Some of these are useful for us as expats:

1. Don’t be late

2. Understand how Germans tell the time (halb drei means 2:30, half before the next hour)

3. Don’t cross the street at a red light

4. “Prost” properly (always make eye contact)

5. Be ready at the check-out (have your bags ready to pack your groceries—quickly!)

6. Get a folder organization system (this is so true, Christina taught me this. Now my life has changed)

7. Join or start a Verein (get a housing Verein one for sure, the rent is cheaper)

8. Get letter notifications (notifies users in advance of incoming letters, postcards and magazines via email)

9. Get a personal liability insurance

10. Always carry cash (duhh!)

“Wellcome” a non-profit organization supports (new) parents

So we became new parents last year, and even though we have family nearby, we could have used, we would have needed some practical help in our everyday life (we didn’t know about Wellcome at that time).

And don’t get me started on how terrible the midwife network is here in Munich…

This non-profit organization has 4 locations where you can get some extra practical help.

What kind of help you may ask:

• Practical advice

• Baby-care services

• All kinds of first year infant support

How much does it cost? They charge a one-off fee of 10€ and up to 5€ per hour for the wellcome service.

This help is priceless.

The Roofs Festival

The 2022 European Championships, which are in Munich from August 11-21, has a fun side offer called The Roofs. (Ouch. Should be Rooves 🙈).

Basically, there are dozens of rooftops around the city each featuring a different theme. Click on the Roofs to see what’s going on.

Mini-München 2022 for Kids

If you have kids or kids relatives, then this would be their cup of tea. Mini München is a playtown for kids ages 7-15 to work, study, earn money, shop, build, meet friends, do politics, and much more.

It’s happening everyday from August 1 - 19, 2022.

Madam Chutney

I’m a Pakistani but I love Indian restaurants (not many though). So, in the sub-continent, there are a lot of street food options. They aren’t necessarily filling, but they do fill up the heart. For example, you must have heard of samosas (the triangular snack).

Madam Chutney is an Indian restaurant with a street-style kitchen able to serve up delicious Indian street food.

They are a MUST visit.
