Paper cups will vanish soon - instead you’ll have reusable cups with return stations

In one of our last newsletters, we reported about the reusable packaging law becoming compulsory in 2023. Starting then, the city is also planning to add Pfand-stations, where you can simply drop your cup and get money in your app.

At the moment, such stations can be seen around Gärtnerplatz and in the Glockenbachviertel. Apparently, these are reusable cups only offered by Kooky, who provides these cups to many cafes, such as Pepenero on Hans-Sachs-Straße, in the Santo-Loco-Café in the city center, at the kiosk on the Reichenbachbrücke and in many other places.

Fortunately, Kooky’s return stations can also be used for other brands of reusable cups.

49€ ticket + one time gas payment relief

Our authorities have agreed that the €49 flat-rate public transportation ticket, which will replace the summer's €9 ticket, is coming. The Deutschland Ticket, like its utopian forerunner, will cover all local and regional public transportation in Germany, allowing you to travel as far and wide as you can on regional trains.

According to transport minister Volker Vissing, the ticket will go into effect on January 1.

Not everyone is happy. First of all, it costs €49! Some claim that it is excessively expensive for those with limited resources. According to some detractors, it is not inexpensive enough to entice drivers to switch to public transportation. Others assert that it will only help suburban and rural inhabitants who already have long train commutes.

The federal states also agreed that German homes and small companies will get a one-time payment for their gas bills in December, following the 300-euro relief paid out in September. Stay tuned for more information.

Are you a fan of Jazz? It’s not too late to catch a bit of the 33rd Munich Jazz Festival. Don't pass up the opportunity to hear some fantastic music this weekend - the lineup is lengthy and star-studded.

On Sunday November 6th, the Repair Café will have several good quality handworkers to repair whatever you want.

And it is free. Why? They believe in sustainable consumption so offer their help.

But before telling you about this new restaurant, I shared that I was going to eat at Bindas in my last newsletter. So, here’s the update - Bindas was good and the food was affordable, and well worth the visit.

Meet Luffy Pancakes Café - They make Japanese pancakes using a unique soufflé method that involves delicately lifting stiffly beaten egg whites into the batter.

The pancakes are then cooked on a potplate that has been uniformly tempered. They are also known as kiseki, the miracle pancakes in Japan because of their distinct texture.

Based on the reviews, it seems that there is always a line but people say it is worth the wait.
