3-2-1 - It’s time to find love in Germany

Melly is absolutely crushing the comedy scene in Munich. The title says it all.

Servus an Alle!

Welcome back to the Munich Post! The purpose of this newsletter is to share: 3 bits of news, 2 upcoming events, and 1 amazing restaurant/café for expats living in and around Munich. This way, you have a pulse on what’s going on without scrolling through thousands of pages.

Question for you:

Radlwerkstatt Survives: The shop that helps refugees & the underserved

Source: Abendzeitung

If you want to buy a second-hand bike, we recommend going to Radwerkstatt 18 because here young people with difficulties find work and community. But the building in Milbersthofen where they were offering second-hand bikes and repair work is scheduled to be demolished.

The good news is that they are moving to Allach and you can avail their services in 2023.

You can find the news here (in German).

Leopoldstraße: A speed limit of 30 kmh only

The local traffic authorities have had a hard time slowing down cars on main thoroughfares such as Leopoldstrasse. As a result, they decided to lower the speed limit to 30 kmh starting in the spring of 2023. The goal is to reduce noise pollution and emissions. It’s also about safety for everyone on the road like cyclists and pedestrians.

MVV is changing its stops and increasing pricing

Because of extra funding for MVV, they are making some route changes that might affect you:

  • The city bus routes 143 and 162 should be faster thanks to new traffic lights starting this Sunday

  • The express bus X30 is getting an additional stop at Vollmannstrasse.

  • The same applies to lines 57 and 157, which now also stop at Annemarie-Renger-Straße in the Freiham development area

  • Lines 173, 180 and N76 stop at the new Helene-Mayer-Ring stop

  • Line 188 runs an extra hour on weekday evenings

  • Line 189 will soon be using a new route in Unterföhring via Beta-Strasse

  • Line 147 will be taken over by regional bus line 220, and line number 147 will no longer be used

Also, on average, the MVG tickets will cost 6.9 percent more, the highest price increase in almost 30 years. A single ticket (zone M/2 zones) will be 3.70 euros, and a stripe ticket 16.30 euros. Monthly tickets (zone M/2 zones) will cost 63.20 euros.

You can find all the changes here.

Deli Tadka

So, I have been longing to go here because it’s an Indian-street food restaurant in Schwanthalerhöhe–and probably the most authentic one in Munich.

You can order online or dine in.

Check out their website.
