3-2-1 - It’s time to celebrate no waiting lines for KVR

Servus an Alle!

Welcome back to the Munich Post! The purpose of this newsletter is to share: 3 bits of news, 2 upcoming events, and 1 amazing restaurant/café for ex-pats living in and around Munich. This way, you have a pulse on what’s going on without scrolling through thousands of pages.

3 bits of news

KVR promises: No more long waiting lines

KVR has read your reviews, like the one below:

The administration promises there won't be endless lines in the future. And the best part? All of this is happening before winter.

What's driving the KVR's remarkable optimism?

For starters, emergency appointments may now be made online. The lines have recently disappeared from Poccistrasse's daily existence. Foreign nationals who had an immediate need to call the KVR owing to an emergency were also in line. For instance, if the lack of a residence permit would have meant the loss of a job or a place to study.

You can find the rest of the good news here (in German).

Ostbahnhof will be closed this weekend

I am sorry to inform you that on Saturday, November 19, and Sunday, November 20, the route from Ostbahnhof to the Leuchtenbergring will not be running between 6:00 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. Avoid going there. You can find the news here (in German).

The Airport Christmas Market is open and waiting for you

The Munich Airport Christmas market is open every day from 11 a.m. between November 19 and December 26. Visitors and passengers will find more than 40 stalls with handicrafts, apparel, jewelry, and toys and gastronomic delights like roasted chestnuts, steaming dumplings, and tarte flambée, all surrounded by a forest of fir trees adorned for Christmas.

What are the other highlights?

  • An ice skating rink made of plastic, not ice

  • A musical program with live music ranging from rock and pop to soul and funk to gospel

  • Something for kids, too: the extensive children's program offers fun and games with face painting, puppet theater, and magic shows

Interested in visiting? You can check the news here (in German).
